Lake Lugu is located between Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces , designating China key scenic and historical relics , which is world famous both for its beautiful national scenery and for its unique national customs.
Lake Lugu is one of the clearest plateau lakes of our country with a total area of 52 square kilometers , 2,685 meters above sea level . The average depath of the lake is 45 meters and the deepest point is 93 meters , And the visibility is 12 meters . There are five islands , four peninsulas , One long island and 14 anchors in the lake , The lake is surrounded by mountains , among them Mt. Goddess Gemu standing above others , The winding Houlong Mountain stretches into the center of the lake . All of these make lake lugu U-shaped ,
The beautiful scenery of Lake Lugu attributes to the richly endowed landforms by nature . It ’ s described that wherever you see are all pictures and wherever you visit are all fairylands .
The Scenic spot has a total area in Sichuan Province of 314 square meters , water area making up 60 percent , and with the wet land of 15,000 mu. The lakeside scenery here is beautiful and the ecological environmentis favorable . It ’ s neither extremely hot in Summer nor excessively cold in winter . Tourists usually feel comfortable and enchanted for rich sunshine , clear air and pleasant weather .
In the scenic area live about 8,000 Mosuo people who have maintained their traditional matriarchal custom and the primitive custom of “ walking marriage” till today , which are regarded as a “ living fossil” of matriarchal societies of mankingd and the last“women’s kingdaom” of the world by specialists and scholars .
As the world immaterial and cultural heritage , the exotic Mosuo folk customs are unique in the whole world , and it could not be replaced .
